Styles of communication in Business                                            (introduction)

How do you communicate with the people around you? There are various ways of communications or we can say different tones or styles which people use in their routine life. Are styles of communication acting as strength or weakness? Through my own research, I have found four styles of communication which are effective in their own way.

Every style is different not say better than another inherently. But the thing is that, which style should we choose for a particular audience or setting? Whether we are communicating with a single person or in front of thousands of people. Every situation has its own nature so behaving and using emotions matters a lot because that’s what people get influenced through and get to know the importance of that thing which the speaker wants to convey.

Many of us sometimes in our daily routine meet with many people, just say in the business world most of the time communication takes place through a formal style. And the main difference which separated the four styles of communication is that whether the information is conveyed through emotions or with data. For example, I feel like our company sales have gone up this year (emotions). Or can be said this way like the company’s sales raised up to 10% this year (data).

Apart from this difference there is another logical difference that is through a linear way (example, did you want to start with process 1st then 2nd then 3rd then 4th or straight away to process 10th) or through a freeform way (example, do you want to skip all the processes and start with the 10th process).

These differences are just the part of these styles. In my next posts, I will be describing the four styles of communication (Analytical, Amiable, Expressive and Driver) which plays a very vital role in business organizations to function correctly (markmurphy, 2015).
